A smart waste management system developed for Rommtech. It was designed to optimize waste collection through IoT enabled bins, real-time monitoring, and intelligent route optimization. Accessible via web and mobile applications, the platform empowers collection teams to service bins based on actual fill levels, reducing fuel usage, cutting operational costs, and supporting sustainability goals and minimizing environmental impacts.

Problem Statement

Traditional waste collection systems relied on static schedules rather than actual bin usage, often resulting in half-empty bins being serviced while overflowing bins were neglected. This approach created multiple inefficiencies, including excessive fuel consumption, higher labor costs, and inconsistent service quality. Moreover, municipalities and facility managers lacked the real-time data needed to optimize routes, allocate resources effectively, and reduce environmental impact.

Our Solution

To address these challenges, there was a clear need for a smarter, data-driven waste management solution capable of improving efficiency, reducing costs, and supporting long-term sustainability goals. We as a IoT solution provider developed a Smart Bin system with sensor-enabled bins that track fill levels in real time. When capacity is reached, a visual alert is triggered, and the data is sent to a centralized platform. An integrated route optimization engine then generates efficient pickup routes, cutting costs, saving fuel, and reducing environmental impact. Accessible via web and mobile apps, the system enables waste teams to monitor, manage, and respond dynamically.
